The Ivernia Board of Directors share a wealth of experience in some of Ireland’s largest insurance companies. The board consists of Andrew Rigby, John O’Roarke, Mark Cliff, Padraig Lynch and Seamus Lynch who work together to make corporate decisions and continuously improve and direct the Ivernia Leadership Team.
Andy is the Chief Executive Officer of Ivernia Insurance. With previous roles at Allianz, Markerstudy, Willis Towers Watson and Hastings Direct, as well as extensive experience consulting to other insurance firms around the world, Andy has a deep knowledge and expertise in general insurance. At Ivernia, Andy hopes to continue to build on the successes of the past and continue to drive profitable growth for the business whilst also delivering a “best in class” experience for our customers.
John has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry having held senior executive roles in some of the UK’s largest insurers as well as non-executive and chair roles since retiring. He started his insurance career with AIG working in Finance roles in Europe, Middle East and Africa before moving to AIG’s New York head office. In 1990, he joined Churchill Insurance in its start-up phase helping to grow it to £2bn turnover over a 13-year period and becoming Group Managing Director. Following the acquisition of Churchill by Direct Line Group he became COO of the combined business. In 2007, with a team of colleagues, he led a management walk-in and subsequent turnaround of LV= as CEO of General Insurance, profitably growing the business to become the UK’s #3 car insurer with £1.6bn turnover and becoming recognised as the UK’s Most Trusted Insurer. In recent years, John has occupied Non-Executive Director roles at Aviva UK, Hiscox Asia, and Horwich Farrelly Solicitors.
Mark is non-executive director of a number of insurance-related businesses, including Be Wiser, Evolution Claims Management, RS Connect and Ivernia Insurance. Previously, between 2015-2019, he was chairman (exec and non-exec) at Brightside Group.
Mark was chief executive of retail and distribution at Ageas Insurance Ltd where he was responsible for all Ageas UK’s broker distribution and affinity relationships, as well as Ageas’s Kwik Fit Financial Services, Ageas Insurance Solutions, RIAS and Castle Cover.
He has also worked at AXA Insurance, where he held the position of markets and managing director.
Mark is also a member of BIBA’s Large Broker Advisory Board.
Seamus is Chairman and principal shareholder of Chill Insurance, Ireland’s fastest growing personal lines Insurance provider. Seamus is also a director of Digicel Group Ltd, a total telecommunications company operating across 31 countries in the Caribbean, Central America and South Pacific region.
In 1990 he joined Eircom in its New Enterprise Department identifying new business opportunities for the company. Seamus joined Esat Telecom in early 1994 as part of its GSM licence bid team and he managed, for two years, the successful application for Ireland’s second GSM licence. He helped to set up Esat Digifone where he assumed the position of National Sales Manager.
On the sale of Esat Telecom Group plc to British Telecom Group plc, Seamus joined Digicel as Chief Executive Officer for Digicel Jamaica. In January 2002, Seamus was named Digicel Group Chief Executive Officer.
Padraig has over 25 years experience in the insurance business. He began his career in the underwriting and claims area with Allianz and then went on to focus on the insurance broking sector, specialising in general insurance.
In 2007, he set up insureme.ie which was later rebranded as Chill Insurance in 2008. Chill Insurance is now Ireland’s largest online insurance broker.
